Lead Me, Lord by Mårten Jansson
Lead Me, Lord by Mårten Jansson
Words from Psalms 5:8 & 4:8
About the piece:
One of the most memorable performances I've experienced was when, in September 2018, I had the privilege to, together with the University of Aberdeen's Chamber Choir, perform in Crathie Kirk in lovely Braemar, Aberdeenshire. So when Prof. Paul Mealor, the choir's conductor and then my academic supervisor, invited me to sing there again in 2019, this time at the inaugural performance with his new choir Caritas, I of course accepted. Even more gladly so since I was given the opportunity to write a piece for this occasion and who wouldn't want to have a premiere with the Queen present? The piece itself is meant to be appropriate for church service but it could also fit in a concert program. I hope you will enjoy it.

An approachable miniature. Choirs will enjoy getting to grips with the flowing melodic lines in all parts, while the roving harmony in the middle section will provide a moderate challenge.
Text :
Lead me, Lord, lead me in thy righteousness,
make the way plain before my face.
For it is thou, Lord, thou, Lord only,
that makest me dwell in safety
