VOCES8 announces Riley Eddins as its newest Tenor

We are delighted to announce that VOCES8’s new tenor is Riley Eddins. Riley will be joining us following Blake Morgan’s transition into a new role as VOCES8 Ambassador and Associate Artist after 10 years as a tenor with the group.

Hailing from Minnesota in the United States of America, Riley grew up between singing and sports, as a child singer at Minnesota opera, and a tennis player.  He studied at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, combining Vocal Performance and Music Education. Much of his experience so far has combined singing, directing and teaching: he was Music Director of the Vanderbilt Melodores a cappella group, preparing them for performances and international tours, and has also worked extensively with youth choirs, schools and musical theatre.

Riley will take up his new position from 1 January 2027, with his first concert taking place at the Kirche Fraumünster, Zurich on 23 January 2027.

Riley Eddins says, “As I transition into this next chapter of my life, I am extremely grateful to have such incredible and kind musicians by my side. I have felt endless love and support from the team, and I can’t wait to bring that energy to audiences around the world.

Being a part of VOCES8 has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember, and I am over the moon to be able to fulfill what I had once hoped for. Blake has been an inspiration of mine for so many years, and as a fellow American Midwesterner, I am very excited to continue his incredible legacy.

Thank you to my friends and family who have made this journey possible. I can’t wait to see you on the road!”

Co-founder and Artistic Director of VOCES8 and The VOCES8 Foundation, Barnaby Smith says, “It’s affirming to watch a new generation of hugely talented singers emerge, and I’m very proud that VOCES8 can offer opportunities like this at such an important stage in their careers. Riley is an exceptional musician, and with the group’s outlook more exciting than ever, I can’t wait to see how he develops and grows within VOCES8.”

After a decade as a full-time singer with the group, Blake Morgan will step away from his permanent tenor seat within the ensemble to embrace a broader artistic and educational portfolio. In this new position, he continues to work closely with VOCES8 through a range of creative projects including writing music for the group, performing in selected concerts, producing digital media, and leading workshops.

ABOUT RILEY EDDINS

Riley began his choral journey singing in a boys’ choir and performing in operas with the Minnesota Opera. Then attending Vanderbilt University, he fell in love with singing all genres of choral music and decided to study vocal performance and music education, eventually completing his masters degree in education. While in school, Riley sang extensively in choir as a Vanderbilt choral scholar, music directed his collegiate a capella group and musical theater organization, and sung background vocals for artists Coldplay and Jacob Collier. If not on stage, Riley can be found on the tennis court, cooking extravagant meals, or playing Codenames and Geoguessr with friends.
